Quality Massage Therapy. Warm relaxing setting.

As you enter our beautifully designed space, our team takes the time to get to know you and your needs.  Every body is different which means every massage is unique, paying attention to your health conditions and any other concerns you may have.

Once you are ready, we invite you to relax in our warm and atmospheric massage room, and begin the process of working through your muscles which promotes your body’s natural healing abilities. Take a deep breath and allow your body to release any tension. If you feel emotional, please let yourself connect with those feelings. This is simply your body communicating with you.

We offer a variety of massage therapies to suit your needs. Here are some of our most requested:

Swedish Massage

As one of the most popular massage therapies globally, Swedish massage involves long, soft, kneading strokes and light rhythmic tapping over the muscles. Our clients find this massage soothing with its ability to instantly relieve tension, increase blood flow and re-energize the body.

Also known as the “classic massage”, the Swedish massage suits those who want to loosen muscle tension from daily activities and poor posture, or anyone who wants to indulge in the most luxurious forms of self care.

Sports Massage

As a high performance athlete or sports enthusiast, your recovery is a key part of your training. Exercise, whether high or low impact, puts your body through wear and tear and necessitates healing. With our sports massage, you will be able to speed up the recovery process and prevent further damage to muscles, ligaments, and tendons. We employ both gentle and deep tissue massage styles to relieve deep-set pain and restricted motion.

From beginners to professionals, athletes of all levels come to Unplug for sport massage therapy, helping them find relief, increase flexibility, clear the mind and calm the nerves. Our sports massage therapy also pairs well with our acupuncture and cupping services, offering a holistic form of healing that helps your body find its optimal health.

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy is not only a physical process but also an extraordinary emotional and spiritual journey. As you honor your body for growing a beautiful baby, it’s important to also acknowledge and relieve the tremendous strain it is going through during pregnancy. Our prenatal massage is tailored to each trimester, offering the mother - and the baby - the relief they need during this time.

Our registered massage therapist RMT delicately works through swollen joints and sore muscles, paying attention to the mother’s position to ensure the safety and comfort of herself and her baby.

Postpartum Massage

Giving birth is one of the most magical things a woman’s body is capable of doing. What comes next is a recovery journey that can be more challenging for some.

As your body realigns itself and shifts back into balance, our postpartum massages help you alleviate muscle tensions from giving birth, reduce swelling, and improve circulation with a milk product. Plus, allowing you some time for yourself to unplug, relax and be pampered. You deserve it.

Take a deep breath, recharge the body.

We’ve supported hundreds of patients in Vancouver, BC and the surrounding regions to feel healthier, happier and more hopeful for the future.

I have seen many massage therapists, although Jad at Unplug Hour was able to help release shoulder tension from a snowboarding injury and bring me relief that I have not seen from practitioners elsewhere. I enjoyed his positive energy and he provided me with some unique stretches for me to work on in between treatments. I would definitely recommend going to see Jad for sports injuries and pain relief!” - Kelsey

“I left my treatment with Jad feeling light and relaxed. He has a very calm presence, he is a good listener, and has a strong technique.” - Lidia

“Jad is a great registered massage therapist, I found he was fantastic at finding the trigger points that would release the pain and tension that I have throughout my body. His knowledge about the human body and background in kinesiology makes for a great combination for what you would want in a practitioner!” - Sherry

Frequently Asked Questions about Massage Therapy

  • Massage therapy is an ancient eastern medicine practice of removing blockages in the body’s energy system. This is done by applying pressure into specific soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the human body consists of distinct channels through which Qi (energy) and Xue (blood) flows. Massage therapy complements energy work to help release these blocks, allowing our body to find its balance again and regain its self-healing mechanism, defending us against illnesses, injuries, and pain (physical and mental).

  • A Registered Massage Therapist RMT is a professional massage therapist who has completed specialized massage training recognized by the Canadian Government and BC province. It’s important to check that your practitioner is a RMT to ensure that you are covered by your extended health benefits. In accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act and the Massage Therapy Act.

  • Yes! Our therapists are Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) which is covered by most extended health plans in BC. Please contact your employer or extended health provider (including students) to find out about your coverage. We can bill directly for ICBC claims.

  • Congratulations! Prenatal massage sessions are highly recommended to support you during the final weeks of your pregnancy to help prepare you for childbirth. With a focus on bringing relief to swollen joins, sore muscles and stiffness, our prenatal massage can help you - and your baby- feel happier and healthier. We employ positioning modifications to ensure that you and your baby are safe. Have questions? Our team will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about your massage therapy treatments during pregnancy.

  • Massage therapy should not hurt. It’s important to communicate with your registered massage therapist RMT if you feel pain or discomfort so they can assess the situation and apply the appropriate amount of pressure.

  • One of the things that massage therapy - especially deep-tissue massage techniques - does is release toxins from the body. This can result in nausea and headache. Other side effects include soreness and tenderness in muscles that are not usually manipulated, drowsiness from the improved blood and energy flow and, sometimes, bruising from focused kneading on specific areas that needed more attention.

Beginners may feel the side effects more than regular massage therapy clients. This is because your body is undergoing a deep change that it is unfamiliar with.

Allow your body the time to adjust to this shift and release tension, toxins and low energy frequencies so it can find balance. Drink plenty of water and eat healthy. Avoid strenuous activities - this is the time for your body to rest and heal.

  • It depends! The frequency of treatment varies depending on different factors including your health history, the severity of your condition, the season and/or climate, your age, your gender, your current lifestyle as well as how your body responds to the first few sessions. Everyone’s body is different, so is the massage therapy treatment you will be provided. Massage therapy is a process and results are cumulative. Consistency is key to giving your body the time it needs to heal itself in a sustainable, non-invasive way.

  • After two or three sessions, you will start to notice improvements in your physical and emotional state. You will experience a loosening of tight and tangled muscles, relief to painful and stiff areas, more flexibility and more mental clarity. Overall, you will observe a sense of wellness, calmness and improved fitness.

  • We are dedicated to keeping our staff and patients safe. For the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, please stay home if you have any cold or flu symptoms and call 8-1-1, the Nurses Hotline for further instructions and whether to be tested.
